In order to take stock of the present status of initiatives across the country, particularly biodiversity conservation and utilization of mango, formulate strategies and research priorities, a four day National Seminar with the theme MANGO BIODIVERSITY FOR LIVELIHOOD will be organised during 25 to 28 June, 2010 at CISH, Lucknow as a part of International Year of Biodiversity. The four day conference will provide a platform for all the stakeholders associated with mango conservation and improvement programmes including international scientists, administrators, policy makers, officers from development departments and progressive farmers to come together and deliberate on the achievements made so far, identify research and development gaps and formulate strategies for effective conservation and sustainable use of mango biodiversity for improved productivity. The link between mango biodiversity and sustainable development and poverty alleviation would be highlighted in the seminar so as to ensure sustainable livelihood options of mango producing communities across the country.

The National Seminar will have the following Technical Sessions:
1 National and international scenario of mango biodiversity.
2 Biodiversity conservation, utilization and creation of market value.
3 Stakeholders participation issues: Farmers variety registration.
4 Biotechnological and Bioinformatics applications in biodiversity management.
5 Resource management for sustainable production, through system approach and soil health.
6 Production physiology
7 Climate change - Germplasm dynamics
8 Integrated pests and diseases management and emerging threats
9 Post-harvest management system including value addition
10 Trade, industry and intellectual property issues
11 Open session

CALL FOR PAPERS
All the presentations will be in English and there will be three types of presentations viz Lead papers, Oral papers and Posters. All individuals are invited and encouraged to submit an abstract (300 words typewritten in MS Word format) under one or more thematic areas only through e-mail (mangodiversity@gmail.com) to the organizing secretary on or before April 30, 2010 . It should contain title, name of author (s), place of working, e-mail address for communication, etc. for consideration as ORAL or POSTER presentation at the seminar. All accepted abstracts will be published in the Book of Abstracts to be distributed at the conference provided the registration fee is remitted in advance. The full length papers are required to be submitted by the specified date, which will be published as Proceedings of the National Seminar .
