Abstract : Bananas: The effects of irrigation and fertilizers were studied on the cv. Harichal. Minimum loss due to cracking (5%) was observed with the higher dose of fertilizer (300 g ammonium sulphate + 600 g superphosphate + 300 g K sulphate/plant) and higher irrigation level (3 acre-in). Guavas: Losses varied from 0.127 to 1.307%; although maximum loss was observed in treatments with maximal N the difference was not significant. Mangoes: Damage amounted to 17% in cv. Amin Prince, 8% in Dashehari and 5% in Nisar Pasand. High RH was associated with fruit cracking in Dashehari. In a comparison of rootstocks cv. Ambelavi was associated with the least cracking and Mylepeliam with the most. Data on chemical composition in relation to cracking are also included.
