Abstract : Of 3 growth substances tried over 2 years on the mango cv. Dusehri, Ethrel [ethephon] at 200 p.p.m. applied at the pea stage advanced ripening most. The fruit was ripe in 80 days from treatment compared with 90 days in the control or 81-82 days in the next best treatment (ethephon at 100 p.p.m.). Maximum fruit total sugars and TSS and minimum acidity were noted in plants treated with 2,4,5-TP at 200 p.p.m. Fruit weight and diameter were greatest after treatment with GA at 100 p.p.m.
