Abstract : The response was studied of 14 scion cvs and 2 types of scion shoot (defoliated or not) to epicotyl grafting. The defoliated scion shoots always produced higher percentages of successful grafts than the undefoliated shoots, irrespective of cv. With defoliated scion shoots the highest percentage of successful grafts was obtained with the following cvs: Fazli (96%), Ranee Pasand (94%) and Kohinoor (90%). With undefoliated scion shoots the highest take was noted in Kohinoor (85%) followed by Fazli (84%) and Ranee Pasand (84%).
