Abstract : In field trials with the mango cv. Dashehari, synthetic garlic oil at 0.75% applied in mid-February in 1976 reduced the average population of D. mangiferae nymphs/15 panicles from 245 in the control to 1.33. The next best treatment was methidathion at 0.05% which reduced the number of nymphs to 7.33. In 1977, synthetic garlic oil (0.75%) compared with 7 insecticides gave 94.67% control, which was next best to monocrotophos (0.05%) which gave 97.43% control.
