Abstract : A new strain of Phalangispora bharathensis was collected and identified on Mangifera indica (Anacardiaceae) from Tamhini Ghats in the Western Ghats of India. The arrangement of dark brown, septate sporodochial setae surrounding the sporodochia is a unique character in this strain that differentiates it from all the species so far recorded in this genus. However, the conidial measurements and conidial chain dimensions are almost comparable to that of P. bharathensis earlier identified from natural forests of Goa, India. This is the first record of this genus on Mangifera.
