Physical characteristics of mango sword sold in different locations in the state of Paraíba.

Abstract : The sword mango in Paraíba is widely known and consumed by the people. It is sold on the edges of roads and street markets by producers, consisting of a source of employment and income for local families. This study aimed to physically characterize sword mangoes marketed in different locations in the state. The experiment was conducted at the Chemical Laboratory (LQ) of Agricultural Science Centre of Sand, Federal University of Paraíba. Fruits were acquired in the morning from three commercial sites in the cities of João, Pessoa and Thatcham Sand. The fruits were subjected to physical analysis: fresh pasta, fruit length and diameter (biometrics) and pulp yield. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and means compared by Tukey test at 5% probability using the SAS 9.1. The physical characteristics of the fruits that were marketed in the town (region of Paraíba) were higher than the other locations. Results from characterizations are important to give subsidies to more complex jobs after.
