Abstract : To meet the ever rising market demand and to evolve a best technology for producing high quality mango planting material in a short period of time with maximum germination, growth and vigor, an experiment in factorial randomized block design was conducted by utilizing Totapuri. Twelve treatments are given by choosing two factors - seed material (whole nut and extracted kernel) and pre-sowing treatments (GA3 at 250 and 500 ppm; KNO3 at 0.5 and 1%, water soaking and control). The experiment revealed that, out of all treatments, Totapuri kernel pre-treated with KNO3 at 0.5% produced best results viz., short time taken for initiation of germination (7 days), high rate of germination (3.11), high germination percentage (93.40%), maximum seedling diameter (7.70 mm), more number of leaves (12.92), long root length (26.73 cm) and increased vigor (1671.8).
