Abstract : In fruits of 18 varieties of Mangifera indica the number of ducts per 1 mm section length and the relative volume occupied by the ducts in the pericarp was greater for varieties resistant to penetration of the fruit by Ceratitis capitata than for susceptible varieties. The mean number of resin ducts which are crossed by a random line in a transverse section of the exocarp, was >1 in the resistant varieties and 1 in the sensitive varieties.
