Abstract : Resin ducts were identified in the pedicel, sepals, petals and filaments of mango flowers and in the exocarp and inner mesocarp of mature mango fruit. In the fruit base, ducts were located between the subepidermal collenchyma and the vascular bundles and within vascular bundles. The base of the fruit stalk contained narrow ducts which widened towards the abscission zone reaching maximum diameter near the remnants of the perianth and anthers. The fruit and stalk duct systems both penetrate the abscission zone but are not interconnected. The fruit ducts in the abscission zone release irritant resin when picked before ripening.
