Abstract : Studies were conducted to make early selections based on the agroindustrial characteristics of genotypes from the base population of the mango breeding programme of the Embrapa Meio-Norte (Brazil). The standard procedure restricted maximum likelihood/best linear unbiased prediction (REML/BLUP) was used to estimate the components of variance and predict the genotypic values. The estimates of repeatability coefficients were high, expressing great stability for the variables in different fruits. The individual estimates of repeatability ranged between 43 and 77%. To obtain a coefficient of determination of the genotypic value of 90%, the necessity of 10, 5 and 3 measurements to obtain characters with individual repeatability of 43, 65 and 77%, respectively, were presented. The fruit mass and pulp mass presented high genetic correlation with length and diameter of the fruit. Therefore, these can be used for indirect selection. Changes have occurred in the ranking of genotypes between variables as a result of the low genetic correlations, except for fruit mass and pulp mass and between soluble solids and pH.
