Abstract : Ethanol extracts from Mado mango shoots contained three root retarding components, one of which, from its chromatographic behaviour, response to UV light and biological effect, appeared to be mangiferin. Shoots of 35-year-old plants contained more of this component than shoots of year-old plants.
