Abstract : Dipping unripe mango fruits in paraquat at 1000-3000 ppm concentration revealed anthracnose symptoms with in 5-7 days, as against control fruits, which remained green and apparently healthy. Anthracnose symptoms were expressed by fruits of all the four mango varieties used in the study - Neelum, Alphonso, Bangalora and Banganapalli, although the number of lesions varied with the concentration and variety tested. However, at higher concentrations of 4000 and 5000 ppm, paraquat was toxic to the fruits.
