Abstract : The flower buds of 15-year-old trees of the mango cv. Hindi were treated with GA3 (200 p.p.m.) or NAA (50 p.p.m.) at different stages of development. Some shoots were ringed and/or defoliated. Ringing or defoliation reduced differentiation of terminal buds whereas ringing and defoliation prevented it. Both GA3 and NAA prevented flower bud initiation and differentiation when applied to dormant buds. Development of mixed panicles (with some inner scales on the inflorescence developing into leaves) was noted in some buds treated with NAA.
