Abstract : This paper assesses the impact of the National Horticultural Mission (NHM) in Bihar in terms of the increase in area, production and productivity of selected horticultural crops (mangoes and lychees) during the period 2004/05-2009/10, and the extent to which the scheme has helped in creating employment opportunities and enhanced the income of farmers. Policy suggestions to improve the implementation strategy of the NHM are also presented.
