Abstract : This is the first report on the occurrence of fruit borer, Citripestis eutraphera (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) from Indian main land causing extensive damage to immature fruits of mango (Mangifera indica L.). Regular surveillance conducted in mango growing areas of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu revealed that the pyralid fruit borer incidence was reported back in 1990's from Andaman Islands on local endemic mango species, Mangifera andamanica L. and cashew, Anacardium occidentale. This pest can potentially threaten the mango cultivation in the near future.
