Abstract : For present investigation, total 100 surface and 40 profile samples were collected from five mango orchards of Ratnagiri District. An effort had been made to study the influence of soil depth on distribution of various physico-chemical properties. From the data, it could be concluded that the physico-chemical properties of soils of mango orchards characteristically represented typical lateritic soils in the 'Very High Rainfall Laterite' (VRL) zone in the Konkan region. For improvement of physico-chemical properties of the soil, it was also concluded that, integrated nutrient approach and appropriate management practices should be followed.
