Abstract : Lure and kill technique was adopted to monitor the incidence and management through mass trapping of fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis H.) at three locations of Nadia district of West Bengal with methyl eugenol during 2011 and 2012. Three types of traps (trap-1: cotton impregnated with methyl eugenol, trap-2: methyl eugenol added in water and trap-3: methyl eugenol mixed with banana and sevin) were used in three orchards (mango, banana and guava) of each location. Among these trap-1 was found most effective in mango (16.07 and 15.03 fruit fly catch/trap/day, respectively). But in guava and banana, trap-2 (13.71 and 14.34 fruit fly catch/trap/day) and trap-1 (17.97 and 17.26 fruit fly catch/trap/day) were effective than other two traps during 2011 and 2012, respectively.
