Abstract : Laboratory studies were carried out in Maharashtra State, India, on the bionomics of Chlumetia transversa Wlk. on mango. Females laid an average of 54.44 eggs. The egg stage lasted 2.44 days, the 5 larval instars 2, 2, 2, 3 and 3 days, respectively, the prepupal and pupal stages 2.25 and 13.25 days, adult male and female life-span 2.33 and 5.54 days, and the preoviposition and oviposition periods both 1 day. Larvae were found to be attacked by the gregarious ectoparasite Bracon greeni Ashm., which is considered to be a promising control agent. Brief descriptions of the life stages are given.
