Abstract : BIOPHYTO is a Research & Development project that has taken place from 2012 to 2014 in Reunion Island, aiming at developing agroecological crop protection in mango orchards. The partnership relies on the collaboration of eleven organizations of Research, Experimentation, Training and Development in agriculture, as well as on an animation and coordination cell (Chamber of Agriculture, Arop-Fland Cirad). Twelve growers have taken part in this project, with two orchard plots on each farm: a BIOPHYTO orchard plot, deprived of any insecticide and herbicide treatment, and a control one. Many results are visible during the evolution of this project, among which are the growers' appropriation of techniques of implantation and management of vegetal covers, the characterization of tools improving the commercial appreciation of insecticide-free mangoes, in information tools production, in training and teaching.
