Abstract : To better understand the role of nitric oxide (NO) in mango fruit softening and disease resistance, fruit pretreated with Distilled water (ck) 0.1 mmol/L NO was stored at 25°C for 11 days. The expression of four genes involved in fruit softening and disease resistance, namely, MiLOX, MiEG, MiGLU and MiCHI, was investigated using real-time qPCR. The results showed that MiLOX and MiEG were downregulated, whereas MiGLU and MiCHI were upregulated. The findings of the study suggested that NO treatment might slow the mango fruit softening, enhanced disease resistance and maintain the quality.
