Abstract : Pre-harvest sprays of benomyl (1.1 kg/ha in 3300 l water) increased the intensity of red skin colour of 2 mango cvs with moderate natural red colour but did not affect the colour intensity of 2 more highly coloured cvs. The treatment also enlarged the area of red skin colour in all cvs, and, in cv. Kent only, intensified flesh colour and increased the TSS content. Post-harvest benomyl dips increased the area of red skin colour but did not influence colour intensity or internal fruit quality. Both sprays and dips controlled anthracnose [Colletotrichum sp.] on the fruit, the latter being the more successful.
