Abstract : The occurrence and biosynthesis of C-glycosyl compounds in many plants are reviewed. Swertia japonica, Silene spp. and Melandrium spp. contain C-glycosyl flavonoids, Mangifera indica, Hedysarum flavescens, Iris florentina and Canscora decussata contain xanthone C-glycosides, Aloe arborescens and other Aloe spp. contain C-glycosyl chromones and anthrone C-glycosides, and Saxifraga stolonifera and Bergenia crassifolia C-glycosylated gallic acids.
