Abstract : Many fruits and vegetables of tropical and subtropical origin are injured when exposed to temperatures 10 deg C but above freezing. Little is known of the mechanism causing this injury and several hypotheses are reviewed. Further research is considered necessary. Many horticultural plants are mentioned, including banana, mango, pawpaw, cucumbers and tomatoes.
