Cambial activity in Mangifera indica L.

Abstract : Cambial tissues, outer wood, inner bark and young shoots (10 mm in diameter) were sampled periodically between January and December. Radical growth of the trees was continuous as the cambium was active all the year round, with slightly greater activity in the later part of the year. Tangential divisions in the cambial zone resulted in differentiation of vascular elements. Climatic factors showed no relationship with cambial activity.
