Abstract : The results are given of studies in Pakistan on the extent of chlorophyll loss caused by the feeding of Zygina binotata (Dist.) and Austroasca sp. on leaves of Bauhinia variegata and Grewia asiatica, and feeding by Idioscopus clypealis (Leth.) (Idiocerus clypealis) on leaves of mango. The chlorophyll loss was as high as 71%, producing functional death of the leaves, and the loss was proportional to the numbers of leafhoppers feeding on the leaves. Those attacked by the typhlocybines Z. binotata or Austroasca showed characteristic stippling marks that were not present on leaves attacked by the idiocerine.
