Abstract : Leaf-mining larvae of Rhynchaenus mangiferae Mshl. were found attacking mango in Valsad District, Gujarat, India, in March 1979. This is the first record of the weevil in the state. In field studies in 1981 on the resistance of 9 mango varieties to the pest, the percentage leaf infestation showed that Totapuri was the most resistant variety and Alfanso the most susceptible.
