References on Mango

Predatory spiders associated with insect pests of mango in India.

Abstract : A survey conducted in mango orchards in Uttar Pradesh, India, revealed the presence of 11 species of spiders preying on insect pests. The spiders included Araneus sinhagadensis Tikader (which preyed on Idioscopus clypealis (Leth.) and Chlumetia transversa Wlk.), Cheiracanthium danieli Tikader (on I. clypealis), Stegodyphus sarasinorum Karsch (on I. clypealis, Drosicha mangiferae (Green), Chlumetia transversa and Altica sp.), Uloborus sp., (on I. clypealis), Linyphia sp. (? on Idioscopus sp.), Phidippus sp. and Marpissa sp. (both on D. mangiferae and I. clypealis). Brief descriptions of the spiders are given.
