Abstract : Three populations of Deporaus marginatus (Pasc.) on mango in Peninsular Malaysia were analysed for glucose phosphate isomerase by means of horizontal starch-gel electrophoresis. The electrophoretic phenotypes were governed by 3 codominant Gpi alleles, 2 of which occurred in polymorphic proportions while the 3rd was rare. The commonest allele was GpiB, which encoded an electrophoretic band with intermediate mobility. Its frequency was not significantly different in the 3 populations studied. The distributions of glucose phosphate isomerase phenotypes in 2 populations were in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg expectations.
