Abstract : Pollinated ovaries and young fruits dropped in 2 main waves: 0-14 and 28-35 days after pollination. A third wave, a mild one, was irregular and continuous from 35 days after pollination until fruit maturity. One acidic and one non-acidic auxin and one acidic inhibitor were detected in the immature fruit. An increase in auxin level corresponded with a period of rapid fruit growth, while a high inhibitor level corresponded with a high rate of fruit drop.
