Manipulation of flowering in mango by forcing the dormant buds.

Abstract : In 3-year trials (off, on and off years) with the cv. Langra, the ringed main branches were treated in mid-October and again in early November with several growth regulators. Some branches were ringed only and the controls were intact branches. Spraying was done in the off years only. The best results were obtained with Cycocel [chlormequat] at 3000 p.p.m. which gave 90, 89 and 81% flowering in the off, on and off years, respectively, compared with 8, 67 and 2% in the controls.
