Comparison of methods for ripening mangoes.

Abstract : Fruits of the cv. Imperial, harvested on 20 December and exposed to several methods of accelerated ripening, were assessed for Brix, total acidity and skin colour at 2-10 days after treatment. The best ripening was obtained with calcium carbide (60 mg/m³), ethylene (1:5000) or ethephon (2 minute-dip in solution at 1000 p.p.m.).
