Abstract : The leaf characters studied were the shape and size as affected by age. Some 20-25, 40-45 and 60-65 day-old leaves of the cultivars Alphonso, Dashehari and Kalapady were used and the leaf area was determined with a portable unit (LI-COR model LI-3000). Additionally leaf fresh and dry weights and length and breadth (in 3 places) were recorded. Formulae involving different leaf characters were needed for each cv. for leaf area estimation, namely, fresh weight in Alphonso, length × mean breadth in Dashehari and length × middle breadth in Kalapady. The data are tabulated.
