Tissue culture for the improvement of tropical fruits.

Abstract : A programme to develop tissue culture systems for subtropical fruit crops had been established at Homestead. Rapid propagation of Carica papaya by shoot tip culture and by somatic embryogenesis from callus has been demonstrated. Somatic embryogenesis has also been achieved from nucellar callus of Mangifera indica and Myrciaria cauliflora.
