Abstract : An account is given of studies carried out in Allahabad, India, on the life-cycle of Amradiplosis allahabadensis Grover which forms ovoid galls on the leaves of mango. The galls and all the immature stages of the Cecidomyiid are described. Galls first appear on the leaves in October, and adults emerge mainly in February-March. New leaves that have not yet become completely green are generally selected for oviposition. The eggs are laid singly; they hatch in 50-60 h. The four larval instars last for about 6-7, 2, 1.5 and 1 month, respectively, and the pupal stage lasts 19-27 days. Pupation occurs within the gall. A Hymenopterous parasite has frequently been observed emerging from the galls.
