Abstract : Activities of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK), FDPase [fructose-biphosphatase], G-6-Pase [glucose-6-phosphatase], and glucokinase increased with ripening (pre-climacteric to post-climacteric phases) in mangoes, cv. Badami, indicating active gluconeogenesis. PEPCK activity did not change in ripening Coorg mandarins. Traces of PEPCK activity were noticed in Dwarf Cavendish bananas throughout ripening.
