Abstract : To prevent the occurrence of black-tip, caused by acidic fumes from brick kilns, trees of the cv. Dusheri growing at 2 localities were sprayed with either chemical at the marble-size fruit stage. Treatment with 2% sodium carbonate reduced the incidence of black tip from 42.7-57.6% in the controls to 7.4-7.5%, and treatment with 0.6% borax reduced it to 9.2-14.0%.
