Studies on the induction of growth and flowering in Dashehari mango.

Abstract : Urea (2%) and/or Auxin-61 induced vegetative growth, compared with the controls, and more shoots were produced when the trees were treated after than before harvest. Also more vegetative growth was obtained on trees with decapitated shoot tips than on intact trees. Treatment with Ethrel [ethephon] at 150 p.p.m. failed to induce flowering on post-harvest flushes but a slight increase was noted on March shoots. Although ethephon did not affect the sex ratio it advanced flowering by 4-7 days.
