Abstract : During a pest survey of fruit crops in India in 1980, large numbers of Amritodus atkinsoni and Idioscopus clypealis were found stuck to leaves and trunks of mango trees by fungi afterwards identified as Isaria tax and Verticillium lecanii. Since both these species had been reported earlier infecting A. atkinsoni, and V. lecanii also on Idioscopus clypealis, these fungi are likely to prove useful for biological control. Isaria tax was isolated and cultured in the laboratory, its morphology is described and its pathogenicity confirmed.
