Abstract : The effect of environmental factors on the attractiveness of methyl eugenol to adults of the fruit-fly Dacus dorsalis was determined in trap tests in the field in Taiwan in 1980-81. The traps were placed in the vicinity of various food-plants, which included bamboo, carambola, wax apple, mango and areca. Temperature, rainfall and fruit ripeness had the greatest effect on captures. Three linear regression equations and a multiple regression equation showing the relationship between attractiveness and these 3 factors are given.
