Abstract : The eggs of Sternochetus mangiferae on mango (in which the larvae damage the stones reducing the seed yield and rendering the fruits unfit for processing or direct consumption) were shown in Karnataka, India, to be distributed according to the negative binomial (contagious) distribution, whereas larvae and adults followed a positive binomial (random) distribution. It is suggested that the change in distribution may be due to the lower population densities in the larval and adult stages.
