Abstract : A survey of the mites on mango in Tahreer Province, Egypt, showed that the species present were Aceria mangiferae Sayed, Vasates mangiferae Attiah and Oligonychus mangiferus (Rahm. & Sapra), which are phytophagous, Amblyseius hutu Pritchard & Baker and Paracheyletia (Cheyletia) wellsi (Baker), which are predacious, Tarsonemus spp., which are scavengers, and Tydeus californicus (Banks), the status of which was not determined. Aceria mangiferae was the most injurious, since it destroyed the inflorescences. Winter pruning of old infested inflorescences reduced the level of infestation in the following year and resulted in an increase in yield. The predacious species afforded little control of the phytophagous ones.
