Abstract : About 4- to 5-month-old scion shoots, defoliated 10 days before grafting on 1-year-old seedlings, were used for (1) veneer grafting, (2) veneer grafting with immediate top removal, or (3) softwood grafting. Grafting was carried out in mid-April, -May, -June, -July, -August or -September. Grafting in June gave the best results with 96.6, 100 and 100% success in (1), (2) and (3), respectively. The mean success for (1), (2) and (3) was 57.6, 81.0 and 70.0, respectively.
