Abstract : The organization of research is outlined and research centres are listed. Research requirements of avocados, bananas, citrus, mangoes, temperate fruits (including apples, pears, peaches and cherries) and grapevines are described. Data are tabulated on the production (1974-83) of pineapples, bananas, oranges, limes and tangerines in Rio Grande do Sul.
