Abstract : Research is reported from the Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Protection, Soils and Water Use, Animal Production and Agricultural Economics sections. Crops researched on include cereals (barley, maize, triticale and wheat), food legumes (chickpeas, groundnuts, field beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), faba beans and lentils), oilseed crops (safflower, soyabeans, sunflowers and rape), industrial crops (sugarcane and cotton), subtropical and tropical fruit (citrus, avocados, loquats, mangoes, bananas and olives), dryland trees (pistachios and jojoba), deciduous fruit (apples, pears, apricots, cherries, kiwifruits, hazelnuts, nectarines, peaches and raspberries), grapevines, outdoor vegetables (asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Chinese cabbages, lettuces, peas and potatoes) and vegetables under protected cultivation (tomatoes, aubergines, melons and beans (Phaseolus vulgaris)).
