Abstract : A review. Under ambient tropical conditions fruits show rapid ripening and senescence. The rate of ripening can be reduced by reducing fruit temperature but below 10-12°C the fruit may suffer chilling injury. CA storage commonly results in unfavourable fruit responses. Popular cultivars are susceptible to various physiological disorders. Lines of further research are suggested.
