Abstract : Preclimacteric and preripened (exposed to ambient temperature (25 to 34°C) for 7 days) fruits were stored at 7° or 12° either directly or after 1, 2 or 3 days at 20°, 15° and 12°, respectively. Thirty days after harvest, fruits kept at 12° were rotten. Preclimacteric fruits with low temperature adaptation and preripened fruits with or without low temperature adaptation did not suffer chilling injury after 45 days' storage at 7°. However, preclimacteric fruits without low temperature adaptation suffered chilling injury.
