Abstract : Laterals on shoots which either flowered or fruited in the preceding season (A), laterals on shoots which did not flower or fruit in the preceding season (B), shoots which did not flower or fruit in the preceding season but which had extension growth (C) and young flushes arising in July (D) were sampled monthly on 18-year-old trees of the cv. Langra. In all cases the stems had a higher moisture content than the leaves, with D shoots having the highest mean moisture content followed by C, B and A. The highest moisure content was noted in C shoots in July (70.56%). No correlation was found between shoot moisture content and shoot P, Cu, Fe, Mn or Zn in any of the 4 shoot types.
