Abstract : Research is reported on the breeding and cultivation of crops which include fruit crops (mango, pawpaw, citrus, banana, guava, grapevine, pomegranate, Ziziphus mauritiana and Mimusops hexandra), vegetable crops (tomato, capsicum, aubergine, okra, melon, pumpkin, Phaseolus vulgaris, Dolichos lablab [Lablab purpureus], Vigna unguiculata, Amaranthus (for leaf and seed production), and cauliflower), ornamental crops (chrysanthemum, China aster, gladiolus, Tagetes patula, T. erecta, rose, bougainvillea, and Jasminum sambac), and medicinal and aromatic crops (Dioscorea spp., Catharanthus roseus, Solanum spp., rose geranium, and Pogostemon cablin). Reports are also presented from: the post-harvest technology laboratory; division of plant pathology; division of entomology and nematology; division of plant physiology and biochemistry; division of soil science; division of plant genetic resources; and division of economics and statistics.
