Abstract : The curculionid Sternochetus mangiferae caused serious damage to mangoes in north-eastern India, where the trees are usually propagated through seeds, in 1980-84. In Tripura, 220 mango trees belonging to 11 cultivars were sampled and all were shown to harbour the weevil; an average of 66.2% of the fruits examined was infested.
